Wonderful 19th C. Oval Riser Stool Short & Stout Original Paint. When you rub your hand on the top of the stool it reminds me of why I love early primitive pieces. This is one of my favorite pieces this month. Probably because it is an incredibly hard form to find and because it is short enough to be the perfect height to use as a perch to display so many things. But mainly because it stands so well alone and has such a great form and presence. Top has worn to perfection I see some very small indications that the top at one top was painted the same as the legs & sides of seat, but completely worn smooth now from wear and time.
